Destra brings new soca high to Mas Camp

Like a phoenix she rose. “Can you see me?” she quizzed with her signature Trinidadian accent, while standing on a platform. The energised crowd screamed, “Yes, Destra, we see you.”
Concluding the Bacchanal Jamaica Friday night fete series dubbed Sweet Dreams at the Mas Camp last Friday, soca diva Destra Garcia and the Atlantik Band were definitely in top form.
High Fashion Luggage

I don’t know about you, but I must have gone through hundreds of luggage. Most of them do not last too long with me, therefore I am always looking for a nice, durable set of luggage to take with me when I travel.
The Savoy Collection for Style and Strength
From French 1946, a California-based company founded in 1946 that has recently undergone a revival, is the Savoy collection for women, made from a fabric used in the hospitality industry because of its strength, durability, and resistance to stain and bacteria; it is finished with nickel-plated, jewelry-quality hardware. Pieces include a hatbox ($785), satchel ($425), backpack with a bottom ($450), and 52-inch, roll-along garment bag ($1,085) with companion mini bag ($375).
Denali, the “High One”
Denali, the “High One,” is the name Athabascan native people gave the massive peak that crowns the 600-mile-long Alaska Range. Denali is also the name of an immense national park and preserve created from the former Mount McKinley National Park. In 1917 Mount McKinley National Park was established as a game refuge. The park and the massif including North America’s highest peak were named for former senator - later President - William McKinley. In 1980, the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA) enlarged the boundary by 4 million acres and redesignated it as Denali National Park and Preserve. It exemplifies interior Alaska’s character as one of the world’s last great frontiers, its wilderness is largely unspoiled.

Highest Altitude Restaurant in Vermont

Stowe gondola near the top of Mount Mansfield
Here is a different idea for lunch: eat at Stowe’s Cliff House restaurant on Mount Mansfield, the highest mountain in Vermont. The restaurant is nearly at the top of the mountain. It is open from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm everyday the gondola is running. Reservations are not taken for lunch.
The food is a little pricey but very good. And you get a million dollar view free through floor-to-ceiling windows. You will see the Worcester Range in Vermont and on most days, the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Scottish Highlander Guests
We had some great guests stay with us last weekend who were in the area to compete in Scottish Highland Games. Maybe you have seen such competitions on TV - very large men in kilts who throw (?put?) large stones on a chain, heave long poles (cabers), etc. I just saw a Toyota truck magazine ad showing a doctored photo of some Scottish Highland competitors one of whom has just heaved the pole and accidentally bounced it off a Toyota pickup, a humorous demonstration of how tough the truck is. If you use a search engine to research Scottish Highland Games or Festivals, you will see that there are an enormous number of groups and events all over the country.
