New Years 2008 Celebration in Las Vegas

If you are planing to celebrate the New Year 2008 in Las Vegas this year you better plan in advance. With rates that are as much as three times regular prices, rooms and suites will be hard to find.
This New Years Eve the city is expecting more than 300,000 party people at the upcoming celebration, and the Strip will be blocked off to traffic from Sahara Avenue to Russell Road (below Tropicana) starting at dusk. Its party time for four miles of partying and celebrating the new year. Better have a plan before you get there, with an itinerary and reservations and a lot of extra cash.

Michael Kloeti chef/owner of Michael’s on the Hill, one of our favorite restaurants, has just been named Vermont Chef of the Year by the Vermont Hospitality Council, a part of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. Vermont is blessed with many hundreds of fine restaurants so winning this award is a major achievement.

The first entry in Vermont Travel Notes was May 31 2006. Today, after 197 more entries, we have arrived at our one year anniversary.
As I write this, the counter says a little over 122,000 visitors but I did not turn it on until a month or so after I started the blog. Back then I was still learning this blog software and I didn’t know there was a counter available. In the eleven months the counter has been on, we have averaged 11,000 visitors per month. I don’t keep close track of the numbers but they seem to be increasing a little each month.
So, we will keep plugging along trying to bring good information about traveling to Vermont. There are some improvements I want to make. The biggest is probably every part time blogger’s biggest challenge and that is to make time to write frequently. I have the feeling I should write shorter entries but more of them. And I’m going to get further out ahead of events - sometimes I write about them a day or two before they happen. Fewr typos would be nice to.

Year-round snow in Las Vegas?

Here two women playing in fake snow descending from the ceiling in Qua’s Arctic Ice Room at the Caesars Palace hotel-casino in Las Vegas. Read more on msnbc.
“Some people come to Las Vegas to enjoy the clear skies and warm days, but at a new spa that opened at Caesars Palace there is a treatment room where it snows all year long.
Welcome to Qua’s Arctic Ice Room, where “snow” gently descends from a domed ceiling through mint-infused air chilled to 55 degrees Fahrenheit.”
