Vermont Photo Blog

Vermont Photo Blog

Kind of inspires you to take a trip to Vermont, doesn’t it?

I just ran across an outstanding photoblog this evening and spent quite a bit of time going through many inspiring photographs. It’s named “Megapickels” in a take off on “mega pixels.” Excellent quality photos with very skilled Photoshop tuning (nice light touch). Lots of great photos taken around my area of north central Vermont but unfortunately there is no information about the photographer. I highly recommend this site - I have bookmarked it to go back and spend more time enjoying these works of art.

New England Blog

I ran across a New England Blog recently that is a wide ranging collection of articles about travelling throughout the northeast. The blog is part of New England Vacations Guide website which I found interesting and helpful. It’s geared toward people planning a vacation but it makes great leisure reading too.

Also, there are some general articles useful for travlers such as what to expect at a bed and breakfast, and what the difference is between an inn and B&B.

This is a large website but it is well worth the time to go through and I’m sure you will find much to enjoy. In fact, this is one of the best web sites I’ve found about New England travel so I have added a link to it in the left column of this blog in case you want to come back here sometime to easily re-find the site.

Travel Plan Idea Blog About Burlington

The Travel Plan Idea Blog is enjoyable to read because it covers many intriguing places to visit all over the world. As the blog name says, it’s a very good source of ideas for planning your travels. Recent in-depth articles focused on Thailand, Italy, surprising new trends in honeymoons, and St. Barts.

Out of curiosity, I recently tried the blog’s search function using the term “Vermont.” The results came back with a few hits including an article entitled “What To Do in Burlington, Vermont” written by the blog’s owner, James Trotta. It turns out he was a camp counselor in Burlington back in 2000. He wrote the article last summer with the caveat that some of it may be outdated. Most of the information is still good and I have updated a few items below.

South West Vermont Blog

One of my favorite blogs has posted a couple of new entries which will be of interest to travelers visiting southern Vermont.

The South West Vermont Blog today has an article about a beautiful museum that I have wanted to visit for a long time, the Southern Vermont Art Center.

And the prior blog entry recommends some “off the beaten path” hiking in the Arlington area which ties in nicely with my post below about hiking.

Southern VT is a beautiful area to tour and I always recommend to travelers that they spend two or three days there and two or three here in the more northern part of the state. That way, it’s easy to make day trips not only around Vermont but also the Adirondacks in NY (Lake Placid, Lake George, Saranac Lake, etc), the White Mountains of NH, and even Montreal, an easy 2.5 hours drive from us - roughly the same as Arlington and other southwest VT villages.

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

The Travelogue Blog has been launched on the BlogSailor Network.

Travelogue, as defined by Wikipedia:

A travel journal, or road journal or travelogue , is an initially blank book carried by a traveler for the purpose of documenting a journey. Clippings, tokens, or tickets may be included as they are collected. The journal may also include notes written by acquaintances. Some journals feature hand-drawn illustrations, or even watercolors, of friends and places. A travelogue may also contain details of bad experiences. Since the popularization of the World Wide Web, digital travel journals called travel blogs have become commonplace.
