Like most tales of triumph and tragedy, the life, career, and untimely passing of reggae pioneer Mikey Dread at age 53 will live on long beyond his time on earth. There aren’t many artists in the history of the genre who were able to gain acceptance for reggae the way Mikey did. But he didn’t do it as a singer or as a producer (which he would later become known for) but rather as an on-air personality at Jamaica Broadcast Company (JBC) in the mid-1970s.

The company, XCOR Aerospace, of Mojave, CA, announced that its two-seat Lynx suborbital spaceship will carry people or payloads to where they will experience weightlessness and see the stars above and the Earth and its atmosphere below. This will launch XCOR into the emerging space tourism market, estimated at over a half-billion dollars estimated flight time only 30 minutes.

JetBlue Airways Corp on Tuesday announced they will be charging more for legroom trying to boost their non core revenue by 60 percent.
“What we want … is the ability to upsell, Chief Executive David Barger said. Speaking at an investment conference in New York, Barger said “demand is solid across the JetBlue network,” and he assured analysts the carrier is “in the middle of a momentum story,” in spite of industry wide worries of a slumping economy and sharply rising fuel prices.” (more…)
