Powell, Campbell shine
Powell, Campbell shine

World record holder, Jamaican Asafa Powell, was an unusual entry in the 200 metres, but the outcome was rather familiar as he breezed to victory at the Shanghai Golden Grand Prix yesterday.
After noting that his manager Paul Doyle had surprisingly carded him to run the event, Powell proceeded to breeze to a comfortable win in 20 seconds flat, to leave American Rodney Martin (20.29) and fellow Jamaican, Christopher Williams (20.39), in his wake.
Hotel Club Floors Are They Worth It?

The Club floors at luxury hotels usually give their guests free food and drinks and are accessed through a private floor with higher security for club guests only. Now, with competition from other luxury hotels and more demands from travelers, top hotels are adding more perks to their Club floors. Read more on The Wall Street Journal.

Lodging in Beijing for the 2008 Olympics

Lodging arrangement in Beijing is probably one of your greatest concerns in your Olympics journey. There are international standard star-class hotels, local guesthouses in residential alleys, as well as some clean, economic apartments, hostels and folk cultural villages that are popular too. You may choose one that suits your budget. You may also book a room close to the competition venue so as to save your traveling time to it.

Airport Security Reservations

Just imagine having the option of reserving check point slots at the airport. TSA is considering a reservation system that would reduce checkpoint lines at airports during the busiest times of the days.
From: USATODAY
Travelers reserving checkpoint slots probably would have to arrive earlier than usual, perhaps by as little as 20 to 30 minutes, Hawley said. They also would probably have to pay ?? either a fee for each reservation or an annual subscription for unlimited reservations at participating airports.
Lake Champlain Sunsets

Lake Champlain Sunset
I guess it is water vapor in the air over Lake Champlain that creates the sunsets seen there frequently (one more thing I should look up someday). We often suggest to our guests a short trip to Burlington because it is such an interesting city, has much to see and do, good restaurants, and a nice lakefront park from which to watch the sunset. Every evening in nice weather, you will see people coming to the park and finding a bench to watch.

VermontVacation.com Foliage Forecaster Map
The leaves started to change here about a week and a half ago when we had a short cold snap. I would guess about ten percent of the leaves in my area have changed so far. I think this weekend should be pretty good for color especially at the higher elevations and in the northern part of Vermont about a hour’s drive from us.
Our inn has been fully booked this coming weekend and the next. You will find that is true of virtually all lodging places in the northern half of the state. However, weekdays are only partially booked so you should be able to find a room if you can take a day or two off from work. We are about half booked for the second weekend in October but that will be filling in soon.

Art in the Round Barn, Waitsfield VT

The beautiful Round Barn, Waitsfield VT
The Inn at the Round Barn Farm is one of the top lodging and restaurant facilities in Vermont. It is a place I would put on my itinerary if I were traveling here. You will find it on East Warren Road outside the town of Waitsfield in the north central part of the state.
Another good reason to visit this time of year is to see the annual Art in the Round Barn show which opened today and runs through October 8. This juried show presents the works of some of the best artists in New England.
